The weeks just keep flying by! Can't believe it's already p-day again!

Well this week we had the Car and that was a huge blessing! We were able to see a whole lot of the people we were working with. We found a couple of new investigators this last week and that was exciting! (miracles in 2.0)

We also had Zone Training this week- President Vest is so inspired!! I loved ll the trainings and received a whole lot of revelation!

All in all it was a good week.

This week we had a pretty neat experience! So about two-ish weeks ago our Ward mission leader gave us an old paper areabook -- (we were REAL pumped! Names to go try and if they moved, some new friends!) We had already met one of our new investigators last week from it!

But this week we were out contacting one day and we had pulled the car over and walked his trail and talked to a few people and as we were going back, we felt like we needed to go look at the records and visit the people who lived in that particular area.

So we go back and only find 2 records but there was one we decided to try. Earlier in the day we had prayed to find people to talk with who would be willing to listen to our message. And as we show up to this persons house, we go to knock his door and a guy comes out- not our friend we were looking for- and he was doing some odds and ends outside and said he would listen while he cleaned his car. WE GOT TO TEACH THE WHOLE RESTORATION AND HE SAID WE COULD COME BACK. And now he's a new investigator!

Learnings from this story:

Prayers of faith!! - when we offer specific prayers and are seeking specific answers, the Lord will show us his hand!

2) FOLLOW THE SPIRIT- that promoting to go look at those old teaching records came 3 different times, and it was when we finally acted on that prompting- as silly as we thought it was- that the Lord showed us a miracle.

I am so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost! He is truly always leading and guiding us in all that we do! I am also grateful for agency- to choose to be obedient, to choose to act, to choose right.

I know that the Lord guides us through the Holy Ghost! Make an effort everyday to pray to be guided by the spirit in your missionary work! The Lord is preparing others, he has prepared you. Trust him and his promise that "...I will be in your midst, and you shall not be confounded."

I know that the Lord knows all of his children. I know he watches over each of us.

I am grateful for all of the love and support I feel from you all. I know that you have been placed in my life to bless me! So go out an answer some prayers his week!!

Week 70: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things!

Week 70: These are a Few of my Favorite things!

This week has been a crazy one full of MANY tender mercies! I am humbled every week by his love and strength!

So... WE FOUND 3 NEW PEOPLE TO TEACH THIS WEEK!!! It has been so long!! But it is incredible to see the unfolding of the miracles the Lord has here in the Red Bridge ward! I feel so blessed to see the change that has happened!

We were also on walk week and so we got to talk to lots and lots of people!! Always a good time Testifying of Jesus Christ! :)

We went to the Historic Liberty Jail (Yes, still love that place with all my heart) AND the Kansas City Missouri Temple with the member we have been working with! We got to the temple just as the sun was setting and it was BEAUTIFUL. I love the temple more that any other place on earth!! The last 30 minutes we were there all we did was look up at the temple- none of us wanted to leave! But after our trip she ended up coming to church with us!! Highlight of the week!

So we had fast and testimony meeting yesterday and a dear sister stood up and said something that really put all my thoughts into words from this last week.

"Sometimes we expect the miracles that God gives us to be perfect, wrapped with a silver bow and a sign that says 'here's your miracle!' But God's miracles come to us in ways and time that we need them, we just have to look"

So i was thinking this week about the tender mercies of the Lord and at one point Julie Andrews came to my head as I reflected on some of the things the Lord blessed us with this week.

So weather or not your favorite things are the miracles the Lord gives you, or they are simply a stranger who stops to listen, the Lord has many miracles going on in your life.

"6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls." - Alma 37:6-7

So this week look for the small and simple things. When we are humble and acknowledge our blessings, I know our eyes and understanding to the Lord's will are opened.

Week 69: "For I Will Lead You Along"

¡Familia y Amigos!

My dearest people, can i jut say home much i love you all! Thank you for al of your emails and love and prayers! They are felt and appreciated!!

So this week was an adventure!  We really felt like we should focus on working what the members in our ward to find this last week because with the regulations of the city and such, there are a few set backs- BUT we had some solid referrals this week!!

We went to the Jail this week with our investigator! I LOVE THAT PLACE!!!! Every time we have the opportunity to take people there, I feel the spirit SO strong! We were able to talk about the Book of Mormon and the role Joseph Smith played in the restoration. I am forever grateful to be a missionary in the Missouri Independence Mission!

We also went on exchanges- I went to Olathe 1st ward with the one  and only Sister Wilkey! (It's fine- I've only been praying to be companions with her since last August... DREAM COME TRUE!) I was so good to be with her ad use some Spanish in Olathe :) And Sister Soutas and Sister Crockett met one awesome people that we have some appointments with!

While I was on exchanges, Sister Wilkey shared a scripture with me that really touched me! It is from Doctrine and Covenants 78: 17-19:

"17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not as yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in his own hands and prepared for you;

18 And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours.

19 And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more."

We do not know all things. Sometimes we are not always shown a why, or a what, but we are promised that he 'will lead [us] along'. What an amazing promise!

I know that the Lord is always standing by our side. He leads us along as we allow him to. I love my Savior and my Heavenly Father. I know they watch over each and everyone of us. Look to them and believe that miracles are coming and happening in your life!

HELLO!!! Happy Week Everyone!!

Shout out to Eric and Ellen-- So excited for you and Welcome to the World Baby Beckham!!

This week was walk week and so we had some really good miracles!

Also - shoutout to all the AMAZING members who gave us rides and went to our appointments. You are a bigger help than you think you are!

Sister Soutas was so awesome this week! She invited our investigator to be baptized and she said YES!!! Seriously it was a huge miracle!! So that is so exciting!!

We had some HUGE miracles this week! One of the less active members, who has had almost no contact with the church for 3ish years, and the members are amazed that we meet with her a coupe times a week-- She even came to a service project with us this week!! I have learned so much from her!

We also had ANOTHER miracle!! So we had a prayer of faith to have 3 people at sacrament meeting and we had invited everyone to church on Sunday and we were pretty hopeful!

So-- One of our investigators who is on date came, and then we go to Gospel Principles and two members brought 2 friends to church! It was so awesome!!

Well this week I really have been so grateful for the Atonement study we are doing as a mission.

There was. Quote this week by Joseph B. Wirthlin that really stuck out to me.

"The Lord knows we will make mistakes. That is why He suffered for our sins. He wants us to get back on our feet and strive to do better. There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents"

Because of our Savior, we can truly change. We can get back on our feet and try again. So if you are down trodden, if you are feeling defeated, if you are all out of ideas-- Look to the Savior. He can help.

HELLO PEOPLE!!! It's been a week!! Haha! Sending Sister Fletcher home, picking up Sister Soutas (pronounced like so-tuhs)- my cute new companion! She is from South Jordan, UT and get this- Her and Hna. Baggett are in the same home ward! Small world :) But she is fresh from the MTC! in fact, President Vest let us see the new sisters pictures, and i even picked her out in the MTC Choir during conference!

But i am running low on time! But This week has been crazy busy and lots of craziness going from sending a missionary home to having a brand new missionary! We are excited for all of the adventures we will have!

This week I had a pretty neat experience while i was taking the sacrament. I was thinking about how a year ago today, October 10th, Hna Baggett and I were getting everything ready for Darlene's baptism back in independence. And as I was pondering about all of the things that have happened in the last year, the spirit whispered to me 'Look how far you have come'. I was overwhelmed as a series of lessons i have learned and how i have grown rested in my mind.

I know that sometimes we can get don thinking we haven't improved all too much, but look back to the last 6 months, the last year, the last 5 years. I can promise you that you are changing and doing better than you think you are.

I am grateful for that personal moment to see how the Lord has helped me change throughout my mission. I know that the sacrament is time for us to reflect on how we have drawn closer to the Savior, as well as a place to know what we can do to continue to draw closer to him.

Hello Hello!

Ok folks- THIS WEEK WAS SO GOOD!! Full of adventures too! Conference, walk week, migraines and meeting!- but it all turned out amazing!

Title Explanation: Little bit of mission lingo lesson for you all who could be slightly confused: When a sister trains a new missionary they are called their mom and so based off that mission lingo: I'M GONNA BE A MOM!! I couldn't let Ellen and Andrea have all the fun! :) haha! We got a call from the Assistants on Thursday night telling me I was receiving a training call! (Pics attached) So I'll be dropping Sister Fletcher off and sending her home at transfers and picking up a new missionary!

With the training call I was invited to attend a meeting at President and Sister Vest's house-- it was absolutely amazing! I know that President and Sister Vest are called by the Lord! I am humbled and grateful for their love and service!

Conference: CAN I JUST SAY HOW BLESSED WE ARE TO HAVE PROPHETS AND APOSTLES!! My heart was SO full as I listened to talk after talk of answered prayers and comfort! I hope you all took seriously the thoughts and promptings you received of what the Lord would have you do because of what was shared! I know that as you act on those personal invitations from the Lord, because that is what promptings are, you will be truly blessed. You will draw closer to the Savior and feel his atonement working in your life! We have a Savior and He lives.

So this week I have been studying Repentance- which was beautifully explained in conference! And I came across a couple verses in Alma 34 that really hit me:

"14 And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.

15 And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance."

The whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice.

Think about that: all that we are asked to do by the Lord, turns us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. The sacrament, reading scriptures, keeping the commandments, and especially Repentance.

I know that salvation is not out of reach because of our Savior! We have access to his grace, love, and mercy as we choose to repent joyfully, humbly, sincerely, and daily.

I am grateful for all that the Savior has mad possible for each of us. No matter where we have been, where we currently are, with Christ, we can achieve all that the father has asked of us and become like him.

May we all truly consider what we can change in our lives to more fully obtain his grace and mercy!

WOW!!!! THIS WEEK WAS SO GOOD!!!!

Appointments fell through, our investigator who we put on date dropped us, we had some fun car adventures, BUT, despite it all, the Lord has blessed us with plenty of sunshine! :) I know that as we seek out the hand of the Lord, everyday can be the best day :)

So we started teaching a former investigator when we went out with a member a couple of weeks ago named Flower, and she has taken the missionary lessons on and off for about 4 years due traveling. Last Sunday we had an AMAZING gospel principles class and we had an appointment with her on Friday. We prayed really hard about the member we needed to bring with us, and felt like we got our answer! So we show up to our lesson on Friday, say our opening prayer and Flower looks at us and says:

"After what we talked about on Sunday, I feel like I need to take the next step and pick a date to be baptized."

JAW DROP (You would think after 15 months of being a missionary I would be better at keeping my composure when miracles like this happen!)

We showed her a calendar, and in the first 10 minutes we were making plans for December 10th!! (WHERE IN THE WORLD DID TIME GO?!)  SO AMAZING! And our member gave her all of the encouragement that she needed to keep asking questions, keep praying and reading, and that the Lord will help her as she make that leap of faith! And let me tell ya, it was a HUGE leap for her to make! So that was super exciting :)

Also we were able to see the Claridy's, our family, this last week! I love them so much! We have an appointment this week to see them and we are really excited to see how it goes!

We weren't able to meet with Margret this last week due to schedules, but we will see her this week :)

AND THE GENERAL WOMENS BROADCAST: ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS!!! My Heart is so full for the love I feel for the Leaders of the church! Shout out to my Mom: all of the mini tissue you sent me sure came in handy during that meeting!! The spirit was so strong and really touched me! I wanted to share some thoughts for my 2.0 :)

The Savior would do ANYTHING to take burdens from you in fact, He already has. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real!
Rely on tender mercies! They are a light in dark times :)

Sister Oscarson;
We can be assured that as we stand for the Savior, as we teach and live his doctrine, We will be prepared to meet the persecution, struggles and trials that will surround us in the current and coming times. We need not be afraid of what lies ahead because we have been given all the tools we need to navigate the storms of life and make it home to our loving Heavenly Father.

President Uchtdorf:
FAITH IS WORTH OUR EVERY EFFORT!
In the end all will make sense, but until then, we walk by whatever faith we have, seeking always to grow it.
To be a 4th floor missionary! There are people who are anxiously awaiting the blessings of the gospel, and I have been called and set apart to knock every door and walk every street to find those who are ready!
Faith comes to the humble, diligent and enduring. Faith come to those who are willing to pay the price of conversation, not simply dipping our toes in the water, but completely immersing ourselves in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I know for myself that the Leaders of the church have been called of God.

My invitation this week to you all is to ask the Lord what He would have you do to prepare to hear his servants this weekend. As we prepare for the messages that will be shared, we will receive answers to our questions, guidance from our Heavenly Father, and a greater resolve to follow our Savior.

I love being a missionary! I love all of the hard things, I love all of the BEAUTIFUL miracles, and I especially love how I have come to know my Savior.

Tender Mercy for the week: I had just finished telling Sister Fletcher how my grandma always takes us out to Sweet Tomatoes after the general women's broadcast and our member who signed up to feed us texted us and asked if we could go to Sweet Tomatoes on Saturday, just before the broadcast! AND when we went we saw President and Sister Vest there too!! The Lord love us!

This is Flower, In the Middle, and Sister Bright , our member, after our lesson on Friday! We took one pictures because the next time we have a lesson with flower, Sister Fletcher will be flying home! (Transfers are October 6th)

It's also in the 70's today so I whipped out my sweater! Still have that Arizona Blood! :)
