Week 3: Hermana Hunt

SOOOOO many things have happened in the last 5 days it's unreal!!! So here's a list for ya!

-So you read the title of my email and I know what you're thinking, and you are right! My companion and I got assigned to learn Spanish!!! How crazy is that!? We have literally been so busy because I speak more Spanish than my Companion, Sister Bressler and we have 7 Spanish speaking investigators! And we didn't even find out until we were at transfers Thursday #Spanglish4Life

-Got to Missouri on Wednesday and when to the Liberty jail and then had Dinner/welcome to the mission at President Vest's house with interviews and we received our iPads.
-Thursday we went to the VC in Independence and had a tour, felt like I was at home in Mesa!
-went to the church right next door at was given my companion assignment
-Sister Bressler is literally the companion of my dreams! Haha I honestly feel like we have been life time best friends but we've only known each other for 5 days!!!!! She's way awesome and we work really well together!
-I am the driver because sister Bressler got in an accident and is red dotted so we had to spend an extra hour in independence getting me certified to drive! We also ordered our Spanish name tags. We're pretty stoked :)
-we left independence and it took us FOUR hours to get home instead of two because there were a ton of detours as well as I had no idea what was going on!
-on our adventure of going home we couldn't not find a McDonald's ANYWHERE. #americannightmare we needed the wifi so we could find out where we were exactly plus we were starving. So after about an hour we finally found one, got lunch and found out we were only about an hour from our apartment. The Lord truly watches out for us.
-We are serving in Iola, Kansas and our area is HUGE. I feel like I'm driving through Taylor & Snowflake everyday, except everything is a whole lot greener!!
-we tried to meet with some of the ward members but no one was home so we ended up using all our time driving. So we went back to the house and then we decided we would go visit one more person, only problem, I left the Keys in the locked apartment and our landlord was gone until Friday morning, so we had to break into our own house. Needless to say I never leave without checking to see if I have the Keys with me!
-Friday and Saturday we went and Met all the people from the ward at the ward picnic and talked to 2 of our investigators. Everyone is so welcoming and I feel right at home here!
-Sunday we went to church and had meetings all morning, then church where we talked about the Holy Ghost and Fasting and the importance of FHE. All of the lessons and talks that were given felt like they were just for me! God answers prayers.

All in all this has been the craziest week of my life, but I know God does not ask us to do anything without providing the way for us to do it. Speaking of that....

So this whole Spanish thing. Let me tell you God has been preparing sister Bressler and I both for sometime for this Spanish assignment! When I was at the MTC I all of the sudden had this overwhelming desire to want to learn Spanish. One of my teachers spoke Spanish on her mission and told me to study the Book of Mormon in Spanish and when I finished i would be able to speak it. So I got an El Libro de Mormon and started studying it. Also shout out to SeƱor Norton and all my family for teaching me. It has all helped! Sister Bressler has been learning Spanish from the Spanish elders that were serving here and our apartment has a ton of Spanish materials in it. Sister Bressler told me that Pres Vest NEVER lets people speak anything other than the language they have been called to speak, so God needed and wanted this to happen. So as I have been praying to speak Spanish and for the gift of tongues, I wasn't seeing a whole lot of progress, last night as I prayed I was pleading with Heavenly Father to help me to truly understand and speak Spanish and to see some sort of progress. This morning when our alarm went off, I got out of bed and without even thinking about it I offered my prayer in Spanish. After I closed my prayer I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and It hit me that I had just prayed in Spanish without even thinking about it. God truly has been blessing me SOOO much. I dropped back to my knees and said a humble prayer of gratitude thanking God for showing me I can do this. I know that God answers our prayers. They don't always come how we think they will, but I can promise you they come.

I love all of you so much! I have truly been beyond blessed to have such a strong support system! I pray for all of you daily and I can feel the prayers that you all send my way! Also I can read emails you send me all week, but can only reply on Mondays, so if anyone wants to help me with Spanish or just send me a quick email, I get them everyday! Thank you all again for your love and support!!

Te amo Mucho!!!!

Week 2: MTC & Missouri

Holy Cow is it already P-day?! I cannot even begin to describe how time works out here on the mission! Well, our district got split up last night :/ Three of the Sisters left to North Carolina, Charlotte mission early this morning and I already miss them! We are already planning a district reunion when all the Elders get home in 2 years!  but................ I'M GOING TO MISSOURI WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it?! It is honestly the most exciting/craziest feeling to know I'm headed out! So I'm probably going to be calling around 5 am Utah time so I think that's 4 am at home.... haha so be ready!!! But I am truly sad my MTC experience is almost over!! The Quorum of the Twelve  are coming Wednesday to Train all the new mission presidents, and since they are going to be here rumor has it that one of them is giving our devotional Tuesday night, how cool is that?! Anyway it honestly has been truly amazing!

One of our investigators, Carol, is going to be baptized! We have been teaching her over Skype (technology is pretty awesome!) and is has been one of the coolest experiences EVER! Sister Jorgensen and I are already planning a trip to meet her in person when we come home! She is truly amazing!! I am for sure, so sad we can't be there for her baptism, but she is going to bless so many lives!

Here at the MTC my companion and I have taught around 23 lessons in the 12 days we have been here! I have learned SO much here and I know I still have so much to learn but I know it will all be Okay!  God doesn't ask us to do anything without providing a way for us to accomplish the task! He is truly in every tiny detail of each of our lives! I am so blessed to be a missionary!

I'm so glad you all got the picture Preston sent! It was so good to see a familiar face! Also HUGE thank you to the Beecher's for sending cookies! My district and I are extremely grateful :) Tender mercies are real and they are the best!

So last Monday, one of the Elder's from our district had to go home for some health reasons, and we had class that night from 5-8. We were all truly trying our hardest to just throw ourselves into our lesson plans, but it was a pretty hard hit. At around 7 one of our teachers, Brother Combs, came over and was talking with our companionship and the spirit prompted me to ask if we as a district could bare our testimonies of the Savior. I have never before in my entire life felt the spirit so strongly. As we all went around the room bore testimony that our Savior lives, and the reality of his Atonement I was overwhelmed by the love God has for each of us. I know the Atonement is real. It is not exclusive, it is for every single person who has ever been on this Earth. Christ is always there, but it is up to us to grab that out stretched hand. I Know that Jesus Christ lives! He loves you, He knows you, He wants to comfort you, and He will wait for you, all you have to do is ask for his help.

Well I am almost out of time, but I hope you all have a Great week and continue to strengthen your faith is Jesus Christ. Conversion is a life long process you know ;)  Keep sending emails and WRITE ME SOME LETTERS!!

Much Love,

Sister Hunt :)

Week 1: MTC

Family and friends!!

Oh my goodness! it was so good to hear from you guys!! Honestly I have loved EVERY minute of everyday here at the MTC! I know I've only been here since Wednesday, but it feels like weeks haha!  We have 16 hour days everyday and they are always soooooo good! My Companion's name is Sister Jorgensen, she is from West Jordan, UT and basically my favorite person! She's a lot quieter than me, but I'm pretty good and getting people to talk... ;) haha! Anyway we get along super well and are teaching four investigators ( Chris, Fabiola, Matt and Carole) and everything is going so good!! Heavenly Father truly puts the people we need in our life when we need them!!

Speaking of inspired people in our lives, my District: I don't think I have ever been closer to a group of people in my whole life! Hard to believe we have only known each other since Wednesday! We have had some of the coolest, most humbling experiences together! We go pretty much everywhere together and are about as close to a family as you can get haha! We have a 12 person district 6 elders and 6 sisters! How cool is that!? The Lord truly is hastening the work! For example: last week, before the missionaries arrived on Wednesday, there were only 723 missionaries here and now there are 1347!! It is such a great time to be a missionary!!  I have some pictures of my companion and district, but don't have the usb adapter to put them on, so next week for sure :)

To sum it all up, I am loving everything about being here! I learn so much everyday from everything we do! Everything has a purpose and it is so awesome!! They tell you here in the MTC the first convert you MUST have on your mission is yourself, and let me tell ya that is SO true! Last night we have a Devotional on Prayer. I think I've prayed more here at the MTC than I have in my whole life leading up to it! and that's a whole lot of prayers! The power of prayer is so essential to everything. You will never know about anything you don't ask about! The same principle applies to the gospel, you must ask God first! You receive no witness until after the trial of your faith :) Right after the devotional, they showed a devotional given by David A. Bednar a few years ago at the MTC called Character of Christ. WOAH. If you feel like you don't need to improve, look it up and read/watch it and i an promise you, we all have work to do! It reminded me a whole lot about my mission plaque scripture (2 Nephi 31:19-20 a little homework for you all :) ) and how that reminds me everyday, in everything I can always be better!

The MTC has truly humbled me beyond imagination! The Lord has put so much trust in all of us missionaries!  but the humility i have gained and felt, comes with and increased desire to take advantage of EVERY moment I am here. The Spirit is the next most essential thing to prayer in Missionary work. We can prepare and work and teach and do all these things, but without the spirit, we wouldn't accomplish anything! This work is the Lords work and we are on the Lord's time, and it is precious!  There is truly no place like the MTC :)

So i know I have shared a lot of my testimony and how my experiences have gone this week, but I want to talk about the Priesthood for a quick minute. On Saturday everything was going so good! My companion and I had a great workout, awesome studies, an amazing planning session and we even got to teach a member lesson to a Girl named Mayzie as well as teach Fabiloa, one of our investigators. Well after our Lesson, we had 2 hours left of class that night and we were doing an evaluation of our lesson with Fabiola and My companion wasn't really saying very much and i felt like something was wrong, and one of our Teachers, Sister Gweyn, came over asked if everything was ok and my companion just started to cry, which made me cry because I had no idea what had happened, so we went out of class and walked around for a few minutes and we talked about what was going on and went back to class. So after class was over it was about 8:30 and our whole district was in class talking about the day and the Zone leaders, Elder Roll and Elder Downs, are in our district, and she asked them if they could give her a blessing. As they began the blessing tears fell down my cheeks as i knew, without a shadow of a doubt, God was speaking to Sister Jorgensen through those two young Elders. The spirit was SO strong and as we kneeled down and said district prayer before going home for the night, all of our testimonies were strengthened. I am so grateful for the power of the priesthood. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church, restored once again to the earth, by the prophet Joseph
Smith. The Book of Mormon is true. The time I spend in the scriptures everyday just strengthens that testimony. There is no place I would rather be right now than on my mission.

I love you all and pray for each of you everyday! I hope you are all actively seeking to increase your faith in Jesus Christ everyday! I love to hear from all of you so keep the emails coming :)

Much Love,

Sister Hunt <3
